Medical Alert and Medical Alarm
V.ALRT is designed for elderly people or anyone who lives alone and needs a simple and reliable way to keep connected to family, friends and others who can help them in an emergency. When you need help in an emergency, simply either press the SOS button, or if you have a serious fall, the alarm will activate on its own. If manually pressed, it will text all listed mobile numbers (you can have up to 3 contacts) your GPS location on a via satellite positioning, as well as calling each number in sequence.
It then opens your mobile phone in Two-Way communication for you to alert your loved ones of your situation, even if your phone is locked, on silent mode in another room (up to 100 metres away in outdoor areas) our smart technology will still make contact. If you are unconscious, the text messages are there to alert the contacts of where you are. If the fall detection is activated, it will text all listed mobile numbers (you can have up to 3 contacts) your GPS location, Two way voice communication allows to establish if you are able to speak, otherwise they can relay your location to 000 on your behalf.
How does the Fall Detection work?
The built-in fall detector detects a sudden change in angle, motion and impact. The device will then activate and start the alarm sequence, alerting your SOS text with your location on a google map link to all mobile numbers that are listed, it then phones contacts in order listed, contacts are simply changed in our simple to use app.
Who needs one? The case for medical alarms.
Highly recommended for seniors
A Personal Medical Alarm is highly recommended for most seniors and essential for people who suffer from a list of many, common medical conditions and disabilities. People with these conditions are at risk from falls or the sudden onset of acute symptoms or deterioration in their existing condition.
Returning home from hospital
It also recommended in many circumstances by nurses and carers for those senior people recently discharged from hospital.
Who is at risk of a fall at home?
Australian statistics show when it comes to falls, most people don’t know that 1 in 3 people over 65 years have a substantial fall in any given year.
Falls are the leading cause of injury-related hospital admissions in people aged over 65.
60% of falls occur at home. They usually occur when getting out of a chair, bed or when going to the bathroom or toilet.
The estimated average total hospital stay due to an injurious fall by an older person is 15 days.
Frequent falling
Those who fall are two to three times more likely to fall again. The risk of falls increases proportionally with age. At 80 years, over half of seniors fall annually.
Unable to get up after falling
For the elderly who fall and are unable to get up on their own, the period of time spent immobile often affects their health outcome. Muscle cell breakdown starts to occur within 30-60 minutes of compression due to falling. Dehydration, pressure sores, hypothermia, and pneumonia are other complications that may result.
Getting help after a fall
Getting help after an immobilizing fall improves the chance of survival by 80% and increases the likelihood of returning home and to independent living.
